INDICATORS 16, 17 AND 18 Literacy rate
These indicators demonstrate very high literacy rate of population. Comparison of the Columns 7 and 8 data shows the trend of increasing their value. It is possible to expect level of literacy will reach 99,9% early in the next millennium. The gender parity ratio is also extremely high: difference is less then 4%.
The data for the Table 11 were obtained from the reference books by the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis as well as from two national reports on human development 1997).

AFTERWORDS
Basic education level is among the most indicators of steady human development of a country. In spite of tremendous difficulties after Chernobyl disaster and the USSRs decay that strongly press economy and people wealth Belarus continues provide the system of education with funding and different resources to held that high level. Stabilisation of national economy during a couple of last years permits even rise some important indicators in education. The Republic of Belarus saved it donated system of pre-school education and child care. Every year it is provided an enrolment in elementary schools and successful graduating from. Compulsory and free basic education covers on absolute majority of population. There is an excellent cohort of teachers in Belorussian schools. No discrimination of women in schools can be find. A system of special school acts for children with disabilities. And, at the end, Belorussian system of secondary education started a strategic reform. Belarus is going to transform it to 12-year period of study that will provide more high quality of education in the country and allows the citizens to life in the changing world of the second millennium in the common European community.
