The
International Consultative Forum on Education for All - organizer
of the Warsaw Conference in collaboration with the Polish National
Commission for UNESCO - was created in the wake of the World
Conference on Education for All, in Jomtien, (Thailand, 1990).
It is co-sponsored by UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF and the World
Bank. At that gathering 155 governments, supported by thirty-three
inter-governmental bodies and 125 non-governmental organizations,
pledged to provide their citizens with quality basic education. |

Ten
years after Jomtien the EFA 2000 assessment of basic education
worldwide will be presented at Dakar (Senegal, 26-28 April 2000).
The Warsaw conference and five other regional conferences constitute
an indispensable lead up to this international event. Following
a review of country findings, each conference will define its
own strategies to be included in the Dakar Global Framework
