Conference on Education for All in Europe and North America
  (.pdf)

The Objectives

Over 300 participants will gather in Warsaw to assess the state of basic education in Europe and North America. Ministers of education and of foreign and social affairs from some forty countries and several non-governmental organizations, education specialists and policy-makers will analyse this assessment based on some thirty-five national reports. They will subsequently adopt a regional framework for action.

The International Consultative Forum on Education for All

The International Consultative Forum on Education for All - organizer of the Warsaw Conference in collaboration with the Polish National Commission for UNESCO - was created in the wake of the World Conference on Education for All, in Jomtien, (Thailand, 1990). It is co-sponsored by UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF and the World Bank. At that gathering 155 governments, supported by thirty-three inter-governmental bodies and 125 non-governmental organizations, pledged to provide their citizens with quality basic education.

  From Warsaw to Dakar

Ten years after Jomtien the EFA 2000 assessment of basic education worldwide will be presented at Dakar (Senegal, 26-28 April 2000). The Warsaw conference and five other regional conferences constitute an indispensable lead up to this international event. Following a review of country findings, each conference will define its own strategies to be included in the Dakar Global Framework for action.

The Conference on Education for All in Europe and North America will be held from 6 to 8 February 2000 at the Hotel Victoria Inter-Continental, Warsaw, Poland. Located in the centre of the Polish capital, this hotel is 15 km. from the airport.
