Inter-Agencies
Meeting on Education for All
Organization
The
meeting was convened by the EFA Original Partners institutions:
UNESCO, UNICEF, WORLD BANK, UNDP, UNFPA. It will be held
on February 1st and 2nd, 2001, at World Bank Headquarters,
Washington, DC, U.S.A.
The
participation of at least one representative of each of
those institutions is expected in the morning session of
February 1st, In the afternoon of the same day and on February
2nd, other agencies and key institutions in support of education,
besides the above mentioned institutions, have been invited.
During the morning session on February 1st, there will be
10 participants and we expect to increase the number to
a total of 19 people for the afternoon session of the same
day.
The
UNESCO Regional Office of Education for the Latin America
and the Caribbean countries (OREALC), in cooperation with
UNICEF Regional Office, will be acting as the technical
secretarial office. Each participant will be in charge of
its own travel expenses and per diem. The World Bank will
provide the logistics and room facilities. The meeting will
be held in: 1850 I St., N.W., corner of I St. and 19 St,
Room, I-7022, Washington DC, 20433, U.S.A.
Objectives
1) To
work out an inter-agency regional strategy for the support
of plan-proposals and/or national programs on Education
for All. The Latin American and the Caribbean countries
must complete them by the year 2001.
2) To
define, coordinate and support mechanisms for the follow-up
of Education for All.
3) To
develop coordination strategies of national, sub-regional
and regional attempts for the support of national programs.
