Alpha Oumar Konare

Alpha Oumar Konaré is a Malian politician. He was President of Mali from 1992 to 2002 and Chairperson of the African Union Commission from 2003 to 2008.

He began his professional career as a tutor and professor in History and Archeology. Former President of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in 1999 and of the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA) in 2000, he has tirelessly worked for peace and integration in the West African region. Alpha Oumar Konaré is a member of the « Haut Conseil de la Francophonie ».
