May Chidiac is a Lebanese journalist. Star presenter of the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation’s televised news show since its inception in 1985, she miraculously escaped an assassination attempt in a car bomb explosion which left her partially disabled on 25 September 2005. She returned to Lebanon in 2006 and remained active on the media scene, notably animating a weekly political programme "Bi Kol Jor'a" on LBC from which she resigned in 2009. May Chidiac, who holds a Doctorate in Information and Communication sciences, is Professor of Journalism specializing in media at the Notre-Dame University, Lebanon. She also founded the May Chidiac Foundation – Media Institute with a view to helping those of next generations who chose to specialize in the information sector to become more familiar with new technologies and more competitive on the media market. In addition, the Foundation’s mission is to promote freedom of expression in Lebanon and in the Arab world. She has received numerous awards and prizes for her political courage, including the 2006 UNESCO World Press Freedom Prize.  In May 2007, she received the insignia of the Legion of Honor from then French President Jacques Chirac.
