Jordan is known as a crossroads of cultures and religions. Peaceful coexistence of different ethnic and cultural communities in Jordan paves the way for much appreciated stability and peace. The country is strongly committed to promoting its own culture and diversity while also welcoming cultural expression from other countries and communities.

In recognition of Jordan's experience in fostering cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, UNESCO Office Amman organizes celebrations of World Day for Cultural Diversity and Development.  In addition, UNESCO is conducting an exhaustive survey of cultural practices in Jordan, assisting the Department of Antiquities in improving the management of museums in Jordan, and hosting World Heritage events from around the region.
