Supporting and strengthening the Teacher Training programme in Jordan is a top priority under the UNESCO Education Strategy Study (UNESS).

At this particular point in the development of teacher training programmes in Jordan, UNESCO adds significant strategic value, not only in terms of quality improvement of current initiatives, but also in terms of fostering a long term, institutionalized and integrated approach to teaching professional development at the school level.

UNESCO proposes an approach that results in education authorities offering teachers and trainers opportunities for comprehensive, high quality, relevant training and  provide resources that enables them to prosper and offer Jordan’s youth the highest quality of education possible.  One of the overall goals of teacher training is to highlight the good practices that currently exist and to develop a comprehensive map of these efforts so that programmes are not duplicated and prove pragmatic and beneficial at all stages. In this way, the contribution of various bilateral donors and institutions are strengthened.
