UNESCO Associated Schools invited to join the biggest lesson in the world for Global Action Week
UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) are invited to participate in the 2010 Global Action Week (19 to 25 April 2010), focused on the theme “Financing quality public education: a right for all”. The main event of Global Action Week 2010 will be setting the world record for the biggest lesson called “1GOAL-Lesson for All” on 20th April 2010.
This annual worldwide advocacy campaign is organized by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), an international coalition of non-governmental organizations and teacher unions. UNESCO is actively supporting the campaign to raise awareness of the Education for All agenda.
This year the upcoming football World Cup in South Africa (11 June to July 2010) is an occasion to bring to the attention progress and challenges linked to providing Education for All. To this end, the GCE has launched “1GOAL: Education for All”, an advocacy campaign that continues through the World Cup.
ASPnet schools are encouraged to participate in the Global Action Week and 1GOAL campaign by contacting their respective national ASPnet coordinator and the national GCE organizer, and informing the UNESCO ASPnet International Coordination.
