UNESCO Cairo Office established in 1947 is the Regional Office for Science and Technology for the Arab States and the Red Sea Cluster Office for Education and Culture.

UNESCO’s Director-General, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, visited Egypt on 29-30 June 2009 to launch the global UNESCO initiative related to the “ICT Competency Framework for Teachers” and witness the soft launch of the “Review of Egyptian Education Reform”.
