CONFINTEA VI: Cultural programme with music, theatre and dance
Diversity is the hallmark of the cultural programme that will be offered during the Sixth International Conference on Adult Education – coinciding with the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on 21 May. The cultural programme will bring together 32 musical performances, including Brazilian popular and instrumental music, Amazon rhythms and jazz, two orchestral performances and a number of dance shows.
The cultural programme will be divided into two parts:
20 cultural activities will take place in the Hangar (Convention Centre) itself. These activities will take place before the start of the Conference and during coffee and lunch breaks. The programme will maintain a close relationship with youth and adult education, as the majority of the cultural groups will be made up of students currently enrolled in adult education classes. There will also be a photographic exhibition on the Amazon, as well as an exhibition on “Women in the World” (“Femmes du Monde”) by the French UNESCO Artist for Peace, Titouan Lamazou.
From 18 to 24 May, 15 theatres, museums and cultural centres across Belem will be hosting 12 further events to mark the Conference. Nine museums, specialising in themes as diverse as sacred art and popular culture in Para, will extend their opening hours until 9 pm, so that participants can visit them without having to miss any part of the conference. The Symphonic and Latin Music Orchestras will be performing at the Theatre of Peace (Theatro da Paz), a symbolic building dating back to the rubber boom.
