Publication about Adult Learning and Education in Latin America and the Caribbean
The UNESCO Brasilia Office (UBO) recently published a compendium, in Portuguese, on the state of Adult Learning and Education (ALE) in the heterogeneous region of Latin America and the Caribbean, entitled “Educação e aprendizagem para todos: olhares dos cinco continentes” (Brasília : UNESCO, Ministério da Educação, 2009).
The first part of the publication contains translations of the outcome documents of the five regional preparatory conferences that were held in 2008 and 2009 in the lead-up to CONFINTEA VI. The second part offers comments on trends, issues and challenges derived from the Regional Synthesis Report, “From Literacy to Lifelong learning: Trends, Issues and Challenges in Youth and Adult Education in Latin America and the Caribbean” by Rosa María Torres. The articles contain information on regional achievements with regard to Education for All (EFA) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In addition, they provide an outline of the development of Adult Learning and Education since CONFINTEA V.
The publication is available as a PDF file in the Portuguese download section.
