Street kids photo show to mark child rights convention

An exhibition by the celebrated photographer François Perri and a day dedicated to Street Children will be held at UNESCO to mark the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The exhibition Just Kids featuring photos of children surviving in difficult circumstances around the world will run from November 20 to December 10 at UNESCO headquarters (Salle Miro). A full colour book of the exhibition will be available to buy with proceeds going to UNESCO projects dedicated to street children.

On the 26th November UNESCO and the Fondation Air France will host a seminar on Street Children presented by journalist Florence Schaal with principal speaker Irene Rizzini, Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and founding director of the International Center for Research and Policy on Children (CIESPI).

During the evening there will be the first presentation of a new prize established by Fondation Air France to be awarded to associations recognised for their work with children. The first such prize will be presented to Dr Xavier Emmanuelli, Foundng President of Samusocial International. 

The ceremony will be followed by a premiere showing of the documentary Street Children by Michel Bulté which explores the lives of children in Brazil, Romania, Senegal, Vietnam and France.
