The DESD logo is intended to promote awareness and activities pertaining to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

The UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) promotes Education for Sustainable Development in thousands of local situations on the ground, and encourages the integration of principles of Sustainable Development into a multitude of different learning situations.
