UNESCO launches journal on education in Africa

27-07-2009

A new journal, UNESCO in AFRICA, has launched with its first issue entitled Cooperation in the field of higher education in Africa.

The bilingual journal is the result of efforts by UNESCO Offices in Africa to work collaboratively to enhance the visibility of the Organization’s interventions and achievements in the region.

The goal of the UNESCO IN AFRICA journal is to create a space for exchanges, dialogue and information sharing, not only for the benefit of specialists from the region and around the world, but also for all those with an interest in the activities, information, new ideas and innovative experiences generated by/through UNESCO.

The launch issue was timed to reflect the World Conference on Higher Education held at UNESCO in Paris in early July. Africa, under the aegis of BREDA, contributed to the conference with a Regional Conference on Higher Education held in Dakar in November 2008.

This edition includes some of the contributions presented at the Dakar Conference, particularly those focusing on cooperation, at various levels, within higher education.
