China organizes first-ever national launch of EFA Global Monitoring Report

"Overcoming inequality - Why governance matters", the 2009 edition of the EFA Global Monitoring Report, was the centerpiece of a two-day event organized by the UNESCO Office with local partners in Beijing on March 1 and 2, entirely devoted to Education for All. This is the first time that China has hosted a national launch. It was opened by the Vice Minister of Education and attended by more than 100 participants representing the central departments of  the Ministry of Education, universities, education institutes, Provincial Institutes/Departments of Education, bi-lateral and multilateral organizations, NGOs, INGOs, and civil society organizations.

Good media coverage was assured by Xinhua News Agency, China Education TV, China Education Daily and other local newspapers.

A Chinese language edition of the complete report and the Summary Report are available online or by request to the EFA Secretariat.
