Introducing the EFA Global Monitoring Report 2009

Launch date & venue: Tuesday, 25 November at 4.00pm. International Bureau of Education (IBE), Geneva, Switzerland.

Event: International Conference on Education (ICE), 25-28 November 2008
You will find here the core arguments being developed in the 2009 EFA Global Monitoring Report, to be launched next November 2008.

The 2009 Report will focus on governance, management and financing of education: these issues have a predominant influence on the chances that children, youth and adults have to benefit – or not – from learning opportunities. Failure to overcome inequalities through political leadership and pro-poor governance reform will leave many countries far short of the EFA goals. As in every edition, the Report will also monitor progress toward the six education for all goals, with specific emphasis on inequalities. Trends in international aid to education will also be analysed, looking at the role of aid as a catalyst for accelerated progress and greater equality.
