Literacy good practices collection on-line

UNESCO’s Literacy Portal now features an extensive collection of good practices highlighted at global and regional events held in support of the UN Literacy Decade during 2007 and 2008.

The good practices have been gleaned from events such as the UNESCO Regional Conferences in Support of Global Literacy and the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes and range from literacy and vocational training in the Arab States, family-based learning through distance education in East Asia and community learning centres in South Asia to bilingual literacy projects in Latin America, second chance schools in Europe and integrated intergenerational literacy projects in Africa.

UNESCO will continue to collect, and disseminate information on good literacy practices and policies which will be made available for the public in a database on UNESCO’s enhanced Literacy Portal.
