UNESCO’s Executive Board discusses human rights education and globalization
Human rights education in a global era is discussed at a meeting of the Executive Board Committee on International NGOs in Paris on October 3.
The plenary sessions of the Board will take place from 6 to 9 October and will be resumed on 14, 16 and 17 October. Prime Minister Ramgoolam will address the Board on 14 October at 3 p.m. The thematic debate, 7 October, will focus on Protecting Indigenous and Endangered Languages, and the Role of Languages in Promoting Education for All in the Context of Sustainable Development.
Salient features of the session will include a visit by the Prime Minister of Mauritius Navinchandra Ramgoolam and a thematic debate about languages.
Notable items on the busy agenda of the 180th session include: the Director-General’s report on progress made with respect to education for all (EFA), UNESCO’s strategy for action on climate change, the implementation of UNESCO’s Plan of Action concerning science, technology in Africa; and preliminary proposals concerning the Draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for the years 2010 – 2011.
