Mountain Conservation and Watersheds Management.


The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • Carry-out studies regarding watershed and erosion, as well as contamination of ground and potable water in the mountainous areas of Pakistan, for the conservation of base sources, deforestation, and protection from natural hazards, flash floods and limited soil cover vulnerability, especially in vulnerable and marginal status areas;
  • Be an innovative base for training on skills applicable in integrated mountain research and development, and provide training for community work and public awareness;
  • Be the focal point for mobilization, conduct and the coordination of applied and problem-solving community oriented integrated research;Enhance and strengthen collaboration and develop networking between local, national and international institutions, researchers, academics and other organizations;
  • Assist CIMR staff in developing a strategy and plan of action for improving the PhD programme, and;Develop new projects focusing on the appropriate management of water resources and development, for the eventual submission to national and international funding agencies.
