Cultural and historical psychology of childhood.
The specific objectives of this Chair are to:
- facilitate the development of a theoretical and methodological framework of the cultural / historical psychology of childhood drawing on activity theory, as a contribution to the advancement of pedagogical approaches and practices in early childhood and primary education;
- carry out joint research on pressing issues related to the cultural environment of childhood and designing developmental tools based on innovative research to enhance existing practices, and disseminate the results of said research worldwide;
- develop programmes for the training and retraining of psychologists and teachers in the field of developmental psychology, and provide professional education at all levels including at the master’s and postgraduate levels; and,
- foster scientific and practical collaboration in this field with special emphasis on interdisciplinary research, and transfer advanced practices into the field of education and care of the children at the national, regional and global levels helping provide equal starting opportunities for all children.
