Objectives  

The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • promote the conservation and sustainable use of the biological diversity of South Russia; including through the application of the biosphere reserve concept;
  • contribute to the development, management and networking of strictly protected natural areas and biosphere reserves as tools for advancing the sustainable development of the region;
  • contribute to the coordination of governmental and public organizations efforts in the field of ecology, wildlife and environmental management;make proposals for enhances legislation related to ecology and the environment;
  • in partnership with the MAB National Commission of the Russian Federation, expand research, educational and public awareness activities in the biosphere reserves of the region;
  • contribute to the development of ecological tourism in the region.
