UNESCO Chair in Global Development and Inclusive Education (911) established in 2010 at Karlstad University (Sweden)

The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • work out special education programmes for needy children and exposed mothers, to raise their abilities for communication and concentration based on the principles of active and situated learning and conducting action research that combines theoretical and empirical work;
  • make exposed mothers more self-dependent citizens so they can take good care of themselves and of their needy children, particularly by promoting an organic way of living to strengthen their health in a natural environment;
  • support exposed mothers and poor families with work life experiences, including through plantations of organic food to support their families;
  • set-up professional training spaces (Community Children Academy Spaces) based on learning workshops, modern therapy forms and outdoor activities for the children and their mothers, mainly in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Palestine and South Africa, based on their different cultural settings and designed as micro studies for research and action.
