UNESCO Chair on Caribbean Smalls Island Development (897), established in 2010 at The University of the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao)

 The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • foster capacity-building and enhance training programmes at different levels of education, from bachelor courses on Small Islands Developing States (SIDS), to support given to PhD research;
  • support the production and dissemination of policy-oriented knowledge in the area of social and sustainable development of SIDS; and,
  • increase public awareness about the issues studied by this Chair through the organization of regular public lectures and the coordination of an international conference on the globalization of SIDS and sustainable development.
