Objectives
The specific objectives of this Chair are to:
- carry out research into teaching reading and writing within the context of improving pedagogy and learning in schools, and to identify and disseminate good practices in this field;
- design innovative strategies to strengthen initial and in-service teacher training programmes, and to promote mother-tongue literacy and instruction;
- organize scientific events to facilitate networking and the exchange of good practices among academics and policy and decision-makers, as well as relevant local and international stakeholders; and,
- cooperate closely with relevant national, regional and global organizations to achieve the above objectives.
