The University offers two scholarships for eligible candidates of the
area of Aceh, Indonesia to pursue any undergraduate engineering
programme of the Islamic University of Technology for four years
starting in the academic year, 2005-2006.

The Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is offering 20
scholarships (5 full scholarships to each country of the
tsunami-affection region (Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand))
for full-time degree programmes as from September 2005.
Scholarships cover the costs of tuition fees, medical service and
accommodation, but exclude travel and other personal expenses.

Association of Indian Universities
The Association suggested that IAU might adopt
some
higher education institutions in the affected area.

University
of Indonesia
The University
of Indonesia (UI) first concentrated its efforts to help Tsunami
victims in
Aceh and Northern Sumatra by providing medical support and building a
rescue
center. The tuition fee of students from Aceh was waived and the
University of
Indonesia took in students from Syiah Kuala University. UI is now
planning the
rehabilitation of Aceh.

University
From the first day of the catastrophe, the University reacted by
dispatching medical teams, organizing a press conference to explain the
phenomenon, mobilizing university students, dispatching a forensic
physician team, offering a telephone inquiry service and setting up
competent teams to assess the damages and prepare the rehabilitation.
The University also provided a proposal
on social and economic restoration and rehabilitation of the
Tsunami-ravaged communities in Phang-gna Province.

Prince of Songkla
University
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) provided
immediate
assistance to the disaster affected areas by dispatching medical teams
and
sending medical and other supplies. PSU Phuket Campus, luckily
unaffected
became a relief centre and provided interpreters. The Student Union of
Hat Yai
Campus collected money for the people in the affected region.
