Parallel Workshops
A series of interactive Parallel Workshops, allowing participants to engage in more informal debates and showcase their expertise and experiences will complete the Thematic Conference Programme.  Two series of Workshops, with several sessions held simultaneously, are foreseen (each title links to a description) and will address the following topics: 
Series A - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 (16:30 – 18:00)

  2. Internationalization - Institutional strategies for optimizing benefits and mitigating risks
  3. Keys to equitable access and successful retention strategies in Higher Education
  4. Public-Private Partnerships to meet demands for higher education
  5. Institutional Governance in Higher Education: changing face of higher education management
  6. The Bologna Process beyond 2010 and beyond Europe?
  7. Higher Education responding to challenges of ‘Education for All’ and the Millennium Development Goals
  8. Creating a higher education space built on solidarity
Series B - Thursday, July 17, 2008 (11:00 – 12:30)
  1. Universities as engines for the development of their Regions
  2. Accountability and Risk Management in the context of increased institutional autonomy
  3. International Cooperation for Building Capacity in Quality Assurance
  4. Trading or Sharing – Emerging Opportunities and Challenges for Cross-Border Higher Education
  5. Impact of Open Education Resources: What does research tell us?
  6. Teaching and learning for cultural diversity locally and globally
  7. Global student mobility: national strategies, international trends
