Sharing Quality Higher
Education Across Borders:
A Checklist for
Good Practice
|
As follow-up to the
2004 statement, Sharing Quality Higher
Education Across Borders: A Statement on Behalf of Higher Education
Institutions Worldwide, the same four Associations (the Association of Universities and Colleges
of Canada (AUCC), the American
Council on Education (ACE), the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the International Association of Universities
(IAU) elaborated a practical
Checklist for Good Practice to be used by institutions. The
statement identified a set of principles that should guide the
provision of cross-border education and set forth a series of
recommendations. The 2006 Checklist
is designed as a tool to help institutions
ensure that the principles promoted by the Statement were being
respected.
The Checklist for Good Practice
provides a series of questions to assist institutions in
designing and assessing their cross-border educational initiatives, and
to guide them in putting the principles outlined in the statement into
practice. Some questions relate to broad institutional efforts to set
the appropriate strategic context for cross-border educational
initiatives. Others are more relevant to the institution’s operational
considerations in designing and implementing its cross-border
activities.
It is applicable both in institutions that develop cross-border higher
education
initiatives and for those where such programs will be delivered.
