From theory to action: improving the effectiveness of a country’s education system

IIEP support can take a number of forms depending on members’ needs. In the field or through the Paris office, we can provide assistance with:

Policy formulation
IIEP organises sectoral analyses and identification of needs, assists in the preparation of development plans, action plans and educational projects.

Capacity building in educational management
IIEP gives advice on organizational audits, human resource management and financial management, budget preparation, the development of curriculum and textbooks and the management of higher education institutions.
Also, IIEP provides expertise in innovative planning techniques and methods, such as school mapping and micro-planning, projections and simulation models, information systems for educational expenditures, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of systems and programmes.

Training of experts and education officers
Using flexible training methods, IIEP offers annual training courses for education ministry officials, short-term training, distance education and personalized instruction. Whenever possible, the course syllabus is designed in collaboration with participants and beneficiaries.

Studies and evaluation of educational systems
IIEP offers methodological support, studies and evaluations conducted jointly with local teams. Over the past years, a wide range of case studies have been carried out on the methods and techniques of educational planning, including cost analysis, micro-planning, school mapping, supervision and the implications of development policies.
