A detailed overview of a few of the major activities concluded by the IIEP
The main direction of research at IIEP has evolved over the years to take into account social, economic and technological changes, as well as recent developments in educational planning.
Current programmes build upon experience drawn from completed projects, though organized in a different way.
Disadvantaged groups
Spanning 1996-2001, this research and training programme has resulted in some 20 publications. Results are being used as a basis for current research on access to education.
School supervision
This project was launched in 1996. Research was discussed at several regional seminars and has resulted in a series of publications.The lessons learned have provided a basis for current studies on school management.
Teacher management
As of 1994, conditions and improvements in teacher management were explored - particularly staff allocation, posting and transfer. State-of-the-art papers investigated absenteeism, staff utilization, professional development, women teachers. Country monographs spanned Africa. Sub-regional workshops were organized. The project led to current training and new research, focusing increasingly on audits for improving management systems
