Distance Education Courses
Building institutional capacity
Distance education courses specially designed to build both individual and institutional capacity
The head of a Ministry or institution is invited. He or she decides whether the course would be beneficial and selects the individuals to take part. Institutions and individuals are hence both engaged.
Course model
Courses are based upon a set of IIEP materials. Participants work individually, in their local group and then with the other groups. IIEP instructors provide feedback on the group task.
The three-month period of a course allows time to reflect upon the content and to work collaboratively with colleagues. Studying in the workplace means ready access to data and resources. This makes the activities of the course relevant to the individual and the institution.
Topics available
- Planning the development of school textbooks
- The use of indicators for planning basic education
- Education sector diagnosis
- Institutional management in higher education
- Strategic financial management in higher education institutions
- The management of university-industry partnerships
Annual offer
Every year several courses are targeted towards specific regions or language groups.
Participation
IIEP issues invitations to Ministries or institutions so as to balance service over time across UNESCO Member States. Individual applications are not accepted.
