A pioneer in open and distance learning, Dominique Abrioux has been with Athabasca University for twenty-seven years and served as President from 1995 to 2005. Early in his career, he launched Canada's first distance delivered French-language programme.
Dominique Abrioux is actively involved in advancing international distance education objectives, most notably through his role as founding President of the Canadian Virtual University-Université Virtuelle Canadienne consortium and as a Vice-President of the International Council For Open and Distance Education.
