Syed Othman Alhabshi was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR). His academic career has spanned over twenty years at four public universities. He was Dean, Faculty of Economics at both Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He served the Islamic Economic Development Foundation, Malaysia (YPEIM), for ten years, first as Deputy Chairman and later as Chairman of its Board of Trustees. He was Deputy Director-General, Institute of Islamic Understanding, Malaysia (IKIM), before assuming his position at UNITAR. He is currently President (Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei) and Senior Vice-President, Marketing (Corporate) for American Global Education Group (AGEG). Apart from his academic activities, he has been active in the corporate setting in the capacity of member or chairman in various large and medium-scale companies.
