24 - 30 April 2005 - Initially scheduled for April, now postponed to late 2005 (new dates not yet fixed) International Canopy Access Workshop, Costa Rica. This workshop is intended to provide individuals and organizations interested in tropical rainforests, an introduction to methods of canopy access. The workshop would be of interest to researchers, international assistance staff, foresters, conservationists, and planners of ecologically sustainable development, such as nature lodges. Providing canopy access is one important instrument to promote quality economies based on ecologically sustainable tourism.

Symposium international sur « Le Développement Agricole Durable des Systèmes Oasiens»
. Erfoud, Maroc
Organisateur : l’Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) , Maroc, avec la collaboration de l’Office Régional de Mise en Valeur Agricole du Tafilalet (ORMVATF) et avec la participation de l’Office Régional de Mise en Valeur Agricole de Ouarzazat. Le Comité national du MAB Maroc a participé activement à le symposium et plusieurs présentations concernaient la Réserve de biosphère de l'Oasis du sud marocain que les participants ont pu visiter lors d'une visite sur le terrain. Le Secrétariat du MAB et le groupe de travail sur les économies de qualité ont organisé une session pendant la conférence sur le thème « Conservation et utilisation durable des écosystèmes des oasis par l'agriculture et le tourisme : Développement des économies de qualité dans les réserves de biosphère ».

World Parks Congress, 8 - 12 September 2003
The Vth World Congress on Protected Areas
took place in Durban, South Africa in September of 2003. It focused on a number of key issues grouped under different workshop streams, such as on protected areas financing issues. Peter Bridgewater, former MAB Secretary, lead a workshop stream focusing on the linkages between protected areas & surrounding land uses.
