The symposium provided the floor for presenting case studies on sacred natural sites and cultural landscapes the world over. Sacred natural sites have been a central theme for the IUCN Task Force on Cultural and Spiritual Values. A "Special Ceremony on the Sacred Dimension of Protected Areas" was presented at the World Parks Congress (Durban, 2003). Technical Sessions on sacred natural sites provided an opportunity to present case studies, and review technical guidelines for management. The Full Value of Parks: From Economics to the Intangible was launched at the Congress.
