Constitution as adopted on 7 July 1978.

Article 10

    2. Every person who is charged with a criminal offence...
      (b) shall be informed as soon as reasonably practicable, in detail and in a language that he understands, of the nature of the offence charged;...
      (f) shall be permitted to have without payment the assistance of an interpreter if he cannot understand the language used at the trial of the charge;

Article 20

    4. The information required to be contained in an application for the purposes of this section is as follows...
      (f) a declaration by the applicant of his allegiance to Solomon Islands and his respect for the culture, the language and the way of life of Solomon Islands;
