Executive Committee

General Assembly
Composed of 20 members representing the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, Information and Culture, Environment and Water, Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as representatives from the University of Emirates, Technical Colleges and other relevant agencies. The General Assembly meets twice a year.

Interaction with UNESCO and National Commissions
Overview
The United Arab Emirates Commission collaborates with the Doha (Qatar) and Beirut (Lebanon) UNESCO Field Offices. It also co-operates with the Arab National Commissions for UNESCO, but above all within the framework of activities carried out with the support of ALECSO, ISESCO and the Arab Bureau for Education in the Arab Gulf States.

Description
With the support of UNESCO Doha Office, officials from Oman NATCOM and NGOs visited UAE Environment Group.
The Group agreed to support the PanArab educational guideline to resources recycling (Rashid and Dana The Recyclers Project).
Based on a series of visits made by the Office Programme Specialist to the Dubai Central Veterinary Research Laboratory, a proposal has been developed by UNESCO Doha Office towards combating desertification via the establishment of camel farms. The proposal will be distributed via NATCOMs and field offices throughout the geographical area with camel livestock husbandry.

Description
UNESCO Doha Office submitted a proposal on “Quranic Botanic Garden Network” to the UAE NATCOM as well as the Ruler of Sharjah and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The Ruler of Sharja and UNESCO Doha Office signed a Funds-in-Trust agreement under which UNESCO will develop a Master Plan for a Botanic Garden in Sharjah.
