Le statut de la Commission a été élaboré en 1999 et révise en 30 juin 2004.
Centre de documentation
Le Centre de documentation de la Commission possède essentiellement des publications de l'UNESCO. La Commission distribue les publications de l'UNESCO parmi les bibliothèques et Ministères spécialisés. Le Centre n'est pas géré par un documentaliste spécialisé et n'est pas informatisé.
Structure de la Commission
La Commission est composée des organes suivants
- L'Assemblée générale;
- Le Comité exécutif;
- Six Comités de programmes
- Le secrétariat.
Membres/Composition
La Commission nationale comprend 67 membres représentant les Ministères et les institutions oeuvrant dans les domaines de compétence de l'UNESCO ainsi que des personnalités des milieux intellectuels des sciences, de la culture et de l'éducation.
Comité exécutif
Composé de 13 membres qui comprend des représentants des ministères et des organisations qui participent aux programmes de l’UNESCO, et les présidents des sous-commissions. Se réunit deux fois par an.
Assemblée générale
Composée de 67 membres représentant les ministères et les institutions oeuvrant dans les domaines de compétence de l’UNESCO ainsi que des représentants des milieux intellectuels – de la science, de la culture et de l’éducation.
Se réunit entre une et trois fois par an.

La Commission a six Comités de Programmes: 1) Education; 2) Sciences; 3) Culture; 4) Communication et Information; 5) Environnement; 6) Jeunesse, sports et organisations politiques.

Coopération avec l’UNESCO et d'autres Commissions nationales
Vue d'ensemble
La Commission nationale Bulgare collabore avec les Commissions nationales de l’Europe du Sud-Est, avec la France, l’Allemagne, l’Espagne, et la République Tchèque. La Commission a également coopéré avec le Bureau Régional de la Science et de la Technologie (ROSTE, Venise), le Centre Européen de l’UNESCO pour l’Enseignement Supérieur (CEPES, Bucarest), l’Institut Statistique de l’UNESCO, le Bureau International d’Education de l’UNESCO (BIE, Genève), l’Institut de l'UNESCO pour l'application des technologies de l'information à l'éducation (IITE, Moscou), et l’ Institut International de Planification de l’Education (IIPE).

Description
All women graduate students aged 35 years, working in the field of natural sciences, can apply to the program. Grants of 5000 euros will be allocated for conducting research in their home country - Bulgaria.
This Programme provides scholarships for young nurses dedicated to science, under the world famous project "For Women in Science," designed to encourage young women scientists to further professional and scientific development.
Programme for women in science has existed since 1998, when L'Oreal and UNESCO started their cooperation and organized international prizes awarded to five leading women researchers, one per continent each year.
The program now includes both international scholarships awarded annually since 2000 on 15 promising young women scientists and national scholarships to support women in science in countries around the world, respecting their particularities and specific needs.
Since the program is designed "For Women in Science, over 1000 young women from 100 countries are encouraged to develop their research. From January 2011 854 young women scientists from 54 countries were presented with regional or national scholarships.

Description
During the workshop were presented best practices of harmonious coexistence between man and nature in territories like Strandja Nature Park. Discussed and opportunities for the announcement of the first Bulgarian Strandzha biosphere park next generation.
Guests and speakers at the workshop were experts from Austria, Turkey, Slovenia, Greece and other countries that represent successful European biosphere reserves and parks, as well as being announced.

The main organizer of the event was the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF). The initiative is supported by the UNESCO Office in Venice - BRESCHE, the National Committee for the Man and Biosphere and National Commission of Bulgaria for UNESCO
