LégislationThe National Commission was created as an advisory body of the Government by a decision of the latter, which dates back to 1992. This decision was modified in June 1998 and July 2000.
The Statutes of the Commission was adopted by the Croatian Government. (July 2001)
Centre de documentationThe Documentation Centre of the Commission mainly holds UNESCO publications and other National Commissions' bulletins.
Structure de la CommissionThe National Commission consists of the following bodies:
- The General Assembly
- The Executive Committee
- Five Programme Committees dealing with: (1) Education; (2) Natural Sciences; (3) Social and Human Sciences; (4) Culture; and (5) Communication.
- The Secretariat.
Membres/CompositionThe National Commission is composed of 17 members representing various governmental departments and ministries, institutions, agencies and individual experts.
Comité exécutifComposed of 7 members: the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson, and Chairpersons
of the five Programme Committees. The Committee meets three to four times a year.
Assemblée généraleComposed of 17 members representing the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction; the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports; the Ministry of Culture; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences; and the Parliament. The General Assembly meets five to six times a year.

Vue d'ensembleThe National Commission collaborates with its counterparts from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Sweden, Portugal, Denmark, Switzerland, USA, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Republic of Korea, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kenya and Jamaica. It also maintains close working relations with the UNESCO Office in Venice - BRESCE.

DescriptionThe Forum was organized by the UNESCO National Commissions of Slovenia and Croatia and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC), in close collaboration with UNESCO's Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) and the UNESCO Venice Office.
Eleven countries from south-east Europe are represented at the Forum: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, and observers from Spain, United Arab Emirates and Switzerland.
Participants visited the World Heritage site Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Poreč and held workshops at the site. They also had the opportunity to visit the Škocjan Caves World Heritage site in Slovenia.

DescriptionThe overarching theme “Engineering for a Low-Carbon Future” is in accordance with the high priority given to climate protection both at the global and the EU level, and in particular with the goals of the energy and climate package, recently adopted by the EU.
The first part of the Congress, starting on Monday, October 18, and ending on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 is the Energy and Climate Conference.
The second part of the Congress is the Symposium Heat Transfer in Components and Systems for Sustainable Energy Technologies (Heat-SET), the 3rd in series, starting on Wednesday, October 20, and ending on Friday, October 22, 2010.

DescriptionThe aim of the 2010 Symposium on Dark-sky Parks is to establish an effective long-term framework for reducing light pollution internationally. It will do so by bringing together key players that will determine with the appropriate course of action. The Symposium not only provides a setting for individuals to present their knowledge or attend presentations by leading experts in the light-pollution field. It also creates an opportunity for networking, collaboration, sharing of information and the building of trust relationships. Dark-sky movement continues to enjoy a steady increase in membership internationally and is represented by individuals from tourism, research, educational, management, government, student and other communities.

DescriptionEthics Teacher Training Courses are set up in order to provide training to ethics teachers with the purpose to enhance their skills and abilities. They aim particularly on training a younger generation of teachers so that ethics teaching programs in the near future can expand and improve in all Member States of UNESCO.
