Législation
The Statutes of the Commission were approved by the Government in 1952 and modified in 1991 (they are available in Hebrew).
Centre de documentation
The Documentation Centre of the Commission exclusively holds UNESCO publications. It is not computerized nor administered by a trained documentalist. Mostly academics use the Centre.
Structure de la Commission
The National Commission consists of the following bodies:
- General Assembly (Commission),
- Committee
Membres/Composition
The membership of the Commission is composed of 44 members : Government representatives (9), Experts from UNESCO fields of interest, authorities and/non-Proffit organization (NGOs) representatives (35).
The Commission has a boad which meets one a year. Its main task is to approve the bi-annual working plan - objectivess and budget; to nominate new Chairpersons and members to Committees.
Comité exécutif
The Steering Committee: 14 members composed of all chairpersons of major committees - ED/SCI/CLT/EFA/WH/SHS. The Secretary-General is the coordinator of the Steering Committe. Their main task is to provide guidelines or the secretariat to implement the programme. It is a consultative, as well as decision-making body. It meets three/four times a year.

- Science: IOC, MAB, MOST, IHP, IGCP, Science for Peace
- Culture: ICOM, Music, Art

Coopération avec l’UNESCO et d'autres Commissions nationales
Vue d'ensemble
The Israel Commission cooperates with the National Commissions of Germany, Poland, Austri, France, Uzbekistan as well as with the Committee of the Palestinian Authority for UNESCO. It also has collaborated with the UNESCO Field Office in Venice (ROSTE) and Amman.
