LegislationThe National Commission was officially established by a Resolution of the Ministry of Education.
Documentation CentreThe Documentation Centre of the National Commission gathers some 10 000 publications, the majority of them being UNESCO pubications, as well as 15 periodicals, two daily and six weekly magazines.
A limited number of visitors come to consult the Documentation Centre.
The Centre is administered by a professional librarian, who also works for the UNESCO Office of Islamabad.
Structure of the CommissionThe National Commission consists of the following bodies:

· The Board of Governors which meets once a year.
· The Executive Committee which meets twice a year.
· The Advisory Committees, composed of high-level decision and policy makers and experts specialized in UNESCO’s fields of competence.
· The Secretariat.
Members/CompositionThe National Commission is composed of some 30 members representing various governmental departments and academic institutions working in the fields of UNESCO’s competence.

Interaction with UNESCO and National Commissions
OverviewThe National Commission has collaborated with the Australia, China, Iran, Republic of Korea, Nepal and Uzbekistan National Commissions and maintains regular working relations with the UNESCO Field Offices of New Delhi, Bangkok, Tokyo and Islamabad.
