The Commissioners are appointed for a period of four years. The General Assembly meets at least twice a year.

Members represent ministries responsible for education, culture, science, communication, and foreign affairs; representatives from other agencies (including non-governmental ones) working in the areas of UNESCO's competence; and individuals in their personal capacity. Representatives from other Government ministries responsible for areas of interest to the programme of UNESCO may also be appointed. |
