LégislationThe National Commission is a State agency with its own budget line. The Government decides on its Statutes, which can be found on www.unesco-sweden.org
Centre de documentationThe Commission has no documentation centre.
Structure de la CommissionThe National Commission consists of the following bodies:
- The General Assembly, which meets 8 times a year;
- The Executive Committee (composed of four members), which meets three to four times a year;
- There are no Sub-Committees or ad hoc groups..
- The Secretariat.
Membres/CompositionAs a governmental body, the National Commission comprises 10 members appointed by the Government for a period of four years (current members from 1st January 2003 till the 31st December 2006) and representing different Ministries, scientific community, media sector, political parties that have seat in the Parliament and youth organizations.
Comité exécutifThere is a small Executive Committee of four members from the Commission which meets about three to four times a year.
Assemblée généraleThe Commission, which has a maximum of 18 members, drawn from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Education and Science, meets in full 8 times per annum.
Comités ou sous-comitésThe Commission has an education committee - primarily for Education for All 2000. It consists of about four members drawn from the Commission.
Coopération avec l’UNESCO et d'autres Commissions nationales
Vue d'ensembleThe Swedish National Commission closely collaborates with National Commissions of Nordic countries as well as other European and developing countries. It participates in the regular meetings of 5 Nordic National Commissions in preparation for the General Conference. The Swedish National Commission organized, in collaboration with ERC/NCP, the 12th Meeting of Secretaries-General of National Commissions for UNESCO of Europe Region and the Regional Consultation on the preparation of the Draft 29 C/5 in Stockholm, Sweden, from 9 to 12 June 1996.
