Structure de la CommissionThe National Commission functions as a Federal Advisory Committee, providing expert advice to the U.S. Government on matters relating to UNESCO. It also functions as a liaison with organizations, institutions, and individuals in the United States interested in the work of UNESCO.
Membres/CompositionThe National Commission comprises 100 members. The commissioners consist of 60 representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and 40 “outstanding persons” (10 officials or employees of the United States Government, 15 representatives of the interests of state and local governments, 15 individuals at large). All members are appointed for a term of three years each, but no member shall serve more than two consecutive terms.
Assemblée généraleThe Commission meetd as necessary, but not less frequently than once per year. No quorum is required. All Commission meetings are open to the public.
