Centre de documentationThe Commission has currently installed a Documentation Center. They bought the installations and other furniture with ONG funds and are working with free software. They use a computer given by UNESCO Montevideo – GNUTECA Program.
Structure de la CommissionThe National Commission is composed of the following bodies:
- The General Assembly;
- The Secretariat.

Three sub-committees to work in Education (PROGRAM I Education):
- Sub-committee of Education for All (composed for five members ;president: Consejero Sirio Nadruz)
- Sub committee of the Education Heritage in young hands (composed for seven members; president: Consejera: Nelda Teske)
- Sub-committee for “ PEAS and other education’s sub-programs” (composed for three members and two technical assessors; president Lic. Isabel Pigrau)

Three sub-committees in Science :
- Sub-committee for the “Ethic in sciences” (composed for five members;president Dr. Hector Gros Espiell)
- Sub-Committee for the Social and Human Sciences (composed for Five members; president Psic.Social Luis Carrizo)
- Sub-Committee for Natural and Exact Sciences (composed for six members; president Alberto Manganelli)

Two Sub-committees in Culture to be installed (each committee will be composed of five members)
- One of the Culture Sub-committees will be for “Culture and Heritage”
- The other will be for “Sustainable Developing and culture”

Three sub-committees for the “Information and Communication Program”, but only one is working up to the moment:
- Sub-Committee for PIDC (composed for five members; president Dr. Antonio Mercader)
- Sub-Committee for “Information for all”(composed forwith five members ;president “not sure yet”, Dra. Lisa Block (She didn’t answer until)
- Sub-Committee for “Memory of the World” (composed for six members; four technical assessors and president Lic. Abelardo García Viera) .
Membres/CompositionThe Commission is composed of 8 members: 6 members represent the Ministry of Education and Culture; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Bureau of Planning and Budget (OPP); the Republic’s University; Secondary Education.
When the Commission would have finally formed its Sub-Committee for the Programme "Memory of the World", it would be composed of 4 additional members representing the national institutions involved in this field (the National Library, the country’s General Archives, it’s Commission on historical and artistic heritage, and the official service of radio broadcasting).
Coopération avec l’UNESCO et d'autres Commissions nationales
Vue d'ensembleThe National Commission cooperates in general with the UNESCO Offices in Montevideo (Uruguay) and Santiago (Chili), and with other National Commissions of MERCOSUR (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chili, Paraguay and Uruguay).
