To the conference attended over 100 representatives from 31 countries from all continents: Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Cape Verde, China, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Republic of Korea, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, USA, Thailand, Ukraine, France, Central African Republic, South Africa, Japan. Guests of the conference were also members of UNESCO and the International Telecommunication Union.
Managers and staff members of intergovernmental and international non-governmental organizations, government bodies, institutions of culture, education, science, information and communication, business, civil society, media, politicians and public figures, leading experts will consider political, cultural, social, ethical and technological aspects of activities to support and preserve languages and cultures.
Particular attention was devoted to discussing the specific tools for ensuring the preservation of multilingualism, particularly in cyberspace.
This Conference is considered as a preparatory event of the World Summit for linguistic diversity.
In the final plenary session a political and practical guide Net.Lang, Towards the Multilingual Cyberspace prepared with the assistance of UNESCO, the Latin Union, ANLoc and IDRC was presented.
This event provided a platform for innovative experience exchange in international policy, exchange of standards and tools for preservation and development of linguistic and cultural diversity.
