A total of 32 participants from the Ministry of Education  and 9 Regional Education Bureaus have attended a two day workshop in the city of Axum on implementation of teacher management information system (TMIS) organized by UNESCO.

  The objective of the workshop was to validate the pilot implementation of TMIS in selected districts of 7 Ethiopian regional states. TMIS has been one of the activities designed after consultations with Federal and Regional State Education bureaus and it was agreed that it should be part of the existing Ethiopian Education Management Information System. TMIS, which provides decision-makers at any level and other stake-holders with up to date and relevant data every year, has been part of the CapEFA program, implemented by UNESCO since 2009.

  The overall result of the pilot test was successful as all regions who conducted the TMIS pilot test have presented the results. Now, in CapEFA program II, the federal ministry, regional education bureaus and UNESCO are working to implement TMIS nationally.
