First Edition of the Biennale of Luanda - Panafrican Forum for a culture of peace

On 1st February 2019, the Angolan National Coordinator, Mrs Alexandra Aparicío and the UNESCO Representative to Gabon and Coordinator of the International team of the Biennale of Luanda, Mr Vincenzo Fazzino, announced to the Angolan press the plan of Angola to host the Panafrican Forum for a culture of peace, on a biennal basis from September 2019.

The first Edition of this Biennale, which has received the approval of the African Member States at the Summit held in January 2015, will be co-organized by UNESCO, the African Union and the Government of Angola, from 18 to 22 September 2019. Its main objective will be to institutionalize and sustain the Pan-African Movement for a culture of peace by implementing a multi-partnership involving all stakeholders (Governments, Civil society, Artistic and scientific community, Private sector and International organizations).

In order to place this Biennale on as high a level as the “African Davos for Peace”, a format of 5 days and the development of a program of activities are proposed around four poles: Reflection, Festival of Cultures, Events, Mobilization of Resources, and Partners.
