UNESCO Amman held science and technology innovation statistics workshop for the HCST
Amman 18 October 2010 - A Science and Technology Innovation (STI) statistics workshop was organized by the UNESCO Amman Office for national key actors in the science, technology and innovation policy review for Jordan. This three-day workshop was held in cooperation with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics in Montreal-Canada at the Jordanian Higher Council for Science and Technology with the aim to build the participants’ capacities in developing Jordanian science and technology policies and science and technology indicators for Jordan. The workshop was attended by 40 representatives from different scientific institutes, universities and ministries in the country and equipped them with concrete tools and key statistical instruments. The first day focused on the introduction of linking science policy to indicators and the definition of research and development and related concepts, whereas on the second day the international experts discussed research and development measurement in developing countries and innovation data and finally, on the last day research, development and innovation surveys, operations and data collection were discussed.
This workshop took place within the framework of the UNESCO project for the development of the science, technology and innovation policy & strategy for Jordan for the years 2012-2015 funded by the Japanese government.
