Archives have the very important purpose to safeguard documented heritage and other records for continuous use and reference. In most of the member states, the value of archives and its role as a keeper of knowledge, is hardly an appreciated fact.

It is widely understood that archives is a repository of records. What is not widely understood is the fact that archives needs to be well managed not only to preserve cultural memories but that it contributes to ensure transparent and accountable decisions necessary for thriving democracy.

This activity supports National Archives on the development of archival policies, and capacity building opportunities on record keeping and digital archiving.
