Media Self-Regulation and Safety of Journalists.

This activity supports media associations with the development of media self-regulatory policies and mechanisms. Media self-regulations focus on setting professional and ethical standards that can guide the work of the journalists. As a result, creating an industry that is recognised as a responsible pillar of democracy and sustainable development.

Media self-regulatory mechanisms such as Code of Ethics and having Media Councils in place to monitor professional and responsible journalism also guarantees the safety of journalists and a free and responsible press.

A second strand of this activity through possible partnerships is the provision of  capacity development opportunities to train and educate the journalists on self-care and their safety in times of natural disasters and other crisis.
